A Police Certificate, also known as a criminal record check or Certificate of Clearance, is an official document detailing an applicant’s involvement in criminal activities.
This Chinese Police certificate is frequently used for travel, employment, immigration, and adoption processes.

Receiving and Understanding Your Certificate
Processing time for applying for Changsha Police Certificate is 2-3 weeks excluding mailing time. A notarial certificate of criminal record check would be issued for use adroad.
However, sometimes you may fail to obtain Changsha Criminal Record Certificate if you held short-term visas such as tourist visa, business visa, or study visa (X2). For this case, application for a China Police Certificate would be rejected. No letter of rejection would be issued by the Public Security Bureau.
The most common and effective way to resolve this problem is to prepare a letter of expaliantion indicating the reasons. The requesting authority will take into consideration whether your application for immigration or visas is acceptable.
Apostille or Legalization of Criminal Record Certificate
Most countries such as USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc. accept the basic Police Clearance Certificate issued by Notary Public Office, apostille or legalization is not required.
Apostilles and legalization are both ways of certifying that Chinese documents are genuine and can be legally recognized abroad.
The country documents to be used determines whether an apostille or a legalization are needed.
An apostilled is needed if the country where document to be used is the 1961 Hague Convention member (Countries such as Spain, Italy, France). If the country where you want to use your document is not on the 1961 Hague Convention member list (Countries such as UAE, Thailand, Maylasia), you will need legalization.
