Procedures for obtaining Shanghai notarial certificate

1.The applicant submits the materials to Shanghai Public Notary Office (Gong Zheng Chu “公证处”).

Notarial certificate of birth in Shanghai

A birth certificate is a document issued by a local government to certify the birth of a baby. The People’s Republic of China began to use the Medical Certificate of Birth on January 1, 1996.

The Medical Certificate of birth must be issued by a health care institution that has approved the provision of technical services for midwifery and has obtained a license for technical services for Maternal and Child Health Care according to law.

There are three kinds of notarization of birth: notarization of birth medical certificate, notarization of birth certificate and notarization of kinship certificate. The type of certificate you need depends on the specific requirements of the relevant department.

1.Notarization of birth medical certificate

The notarization of the medical certificate of birth means that the notarial office certifies the authenticity of the medical certificate of birth issued by the relevant hospital held by the party concerned according to its application.

* Attention, please! The medical certificate of birth is only valid for children born after 1996, as there was no medical certificate of birth before then.

3. Notarized proof of kinship

Notarized proof of kinship is the activity of the notary office to prove the authenticity and legitimacy of the mutual relationship between the applicant and others due to blood, marriage, and adoption according to the application of the parties.
