Starting 18 June 2025
To simplify cross-border document procedures, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) will begin issuing electronic Apostilles (e-Apostilles) for public documents. As the competent authority under the Hague Apostille Convention, the MFA’s pilot will first cover Certificates of Origin issued by the China Council for Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) Starting 18 June 2025.
Key changes for applicants:
✅ One-step application: Request an e-Apostille when applying for CCPIT Certificates of Origin
✅ Same legal effect: Digital Apostilles = Physical Apostilles
✅ Instant verification: Check authenticity online 24/7 at the MFA Apostille Verification System
This pilot is part of China’s effort to digitalize document legalization. The MFA plans to expand e-Apostilles to more documents in the future.
